Abstract In this paper, we consider changes to memorial practices for mental health service users during the asylum period of mid-nineteenth up end twentieth century and into twenty-first century. The closing large asylums in UK has been largely welcomed by professionals service-users alike, but their closure led a decrease continuous consistent care those with enduring challenges. Temporary time-limited services, dedicated crisis management risk reduction have failed enable memory outside therapy room. This is an unusual case privatised memories being favoured over collective activity.
